Canonical Builder

A canonical is your own neutral shape for a business document - an order, a shipment, an invoice - held as a JSON schema. Rather than mapping every system to every other system, each one maps to the canonical.

Creating one

Create asks for:

Field	Notes
Canonical Name	At least 3 characters
Description	What the schema is for
Schema JSON	Paste JSON, or Upload File for a .json file up to 1 MB

The name is set when you create it

Choose it carefully - the list is searched by name, so a clear one is worth the thought.

Viewing and editing

View shows the schema two ways side by side: the raw JSON, and a tree you can expand and collapse.

Edit turns the tree into an editor. Click a value to change it, or use the menu on a field to add or remove structure. Expand All and Collapse All help on a large schema.

ID #, Canonical Name, Description and the created and updated dates. Double-click a row to open it.

Search covers the page you are on

The search box narrows the rows currently loaded rather than the whole list.
